Green Chutney with Cilantro & Mint

Chutneys.....a vibrant and tempting medeley of dips.....
Something that truly represents the beauty and diversity of our Indian cuisine. In the form of a side dish, it leaves a wonderful taste in your mouth.
There are countless versions of chutneys in India associated with each region...My favorite is the green chutney usually served samosas, pakoras or CHAAT!!!!.....mmmm just talking about CHAAT makes my mouth salivate....
As I said can either make only cilantro or only mint chutney...but i love the taste when these two green leaves are combined in the ratio of 2:1 and is spiced using green chilis. Mint gives the dark green color to this chutney.
So, here I am making a Cilantro and Mint chutney with green chilis, onion and spices.


  • 1 bunch/2cups Corainder leaves

  • 1/2 bunch/1 cup Mint leaves

  • 4-5 small Green Chilis

  • 1 small Onion

  • 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 tsp Sugar

  • 1 tsp Chaat Masala {optional}

  • 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder, for extra hot {optional}

  1. Wash and clean the coriander and mint leaves.

  2. In a blender add all the above ingredients.

  3. Grind the mixture till chutney turns smooth. If required, little water can be added while grinding.

  4. Serve with any Indian Snack.

  5. It can be refrigerted in an air tight container for upto 2 weeks.
